Somehow I forget that Malibu isn't just beach breaks and ocean views. It's way bigger than that, also full of beautiful hills and ranches. Saturday Joanne and Hil were married at the Calamigos Ranch under a beautiful tree, beneath a canopy of branches and light just as the sun ducked behind the hills, cooling us off in the twilight. A friend was the officiant, and he was so moved by his role and his love for the bride and groom that he choked up during the ceremony. True emotions wove through the wedding party, the family, the guests. In her normal life, Joanne works as an event planner, and she had everything designed and coordinated beautifully. She even hand string the crystals for the decor, and created the paper lantern chandelier that hung over the dance floor. After dinner, Hil swapped out his dress shoes for white chucks and Joanne changed dresses and they entertained the crowd with a first dance interpreting their courtship, proposal and romance.
In addition to their gorgeous wedding cake, they also had a full buffet of Philipino desserts.
After the ceremony, in absolute unbridled delight, Joanne looked at her new husband with such an honest and wonderful expression of joy. This has to be one of my favorite moments from the entire day. See for yourself.
