Aids Action celebrated it's 25th anniversary last month. Founded by Boston-area artists joining together responding to the AIDS crisis by creating and organizing ARTcetera, a contemporary art auction to raise money for AIDS Action Committee. Benjamin Spear (one of my favorite people ever) of Thinkside, asked me to collaborate on a series of images for ARTcetera 2011. Since the AIDS epidemic looks nothing like it did 25 years ago, we wanted to create a series of portraits that realistically reflect the diverse community that Aids Action serves today. We brought in the wonderful Lisette Murphy as stylist, and powered through twenty portraits in one epic morning on Amory Street.
Here are a few of the images from the evening.
The epidemic and AIDS Action’s work are far from over. More information about Aids Action here.
