Boston Nature Center Wedding Photography

Noah and Pamela were married last fall in a bilingual and bicultural wedding at the Boston Nature Center and Wildlife Sanctuary.  Though they live out of state, they returned to Noah’s hometown to celebrate their union.

I first met Noah when he was a groomsman at Ivan and Melissa’s Cambridge Multicultural Center a few years ago.  And, as connections in our little city of Boston often do, I discovered he was childhood friends with the man who would eventually become my partner.  The past several years, I’ve come to know and love his family and I was honored to be a photographic witness to their Boston wedding.

BOSTON NATURE CENTER AND WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

After their guest list grew too large to for the backyard wedding they originally planned, they chose the grounds of the Boston Nature Center, a community urban sanctuary right here in the city.  They made use of the outside garden for their ceremony, the patio for the reception and the sprawling lawn for the dance party.  The Boston Nature Center is a great option for a green building in the city, that supports environmental education.

The bride hails from Brazil, and her family included traditional blessings as part of the ceremony.

The bride and groom wrote their own vows, heartfelt, specific and hilarious.

As part of their inclusive and multicultural ceremony, the couple included the traditional breaking of glass at the conclusion of the ceremony.

BRIDE AND GROOM PORTRAITS

The bride wore a long summery white gown with a lace shrug and a pink ribbon sash. Her hair, in loose curls was topped with a gorgeous crown of pink roses.  The groom wore a white shirt and brown linen pant with sandals.  Natural textures and colors were perfect for their outdoor ceremony surrounded by nature and family.

After the family portraits and before the reception, I walked with Noah and Pamela through the grounds to make some portraits.  It was a warm afternoon, and everything was drenched in sunlight.  We hit a few of the trails before winding back to the party.

OUTDOOR PATIO RECEPTION

This wedding, and the love it represented, was deeply felt by everyone. Neither tears, nor laughter were held in reserve.  It was a day to express oneself deeply and to connect by sharing words of love.  Parents, mentors and friends toasted the couple and shared reminisces of the journeys that led them to each other.

Part of the Boston Nature Center’s mission is to create a sense of connection, and this celebration truly did that.  Pam and Noah have already welcomed their beautiful daughter into their family, before I even got this blog post up.  Looking forward to a trip south to meet her one day soon.
