MIT Chapel Wedding Photography| Harvest Restaurant Reception

"Keeping it simple. Keeping it real. " Words direct from the bride's mouth, and completely accurate for a midweek Cambridge wedding.  It was a super chill atmosphere at the Charles Hotel as the bride and groom got ready.  She helped him with his collar, he zipped up her dress. They were sweet and gentle with each other, sneaking kisses in the in between moments.
The Tuesday evening ceremony was held at Saarinen's beautiful MIT chapel, where guests were greeted by organ music.  The organist played, and two beautiful mozart arias were sung along with two readings.

Post ceremony and portraits, we all went over to Harvest in Harvard Square. Cocktail hour (with oysters!) on the patio alongside a delicious wine array and of course the groom's favorite, margaritas, for the opener.

A leisurely meal was followed by toasts and cake, two ways [carrot and chocolate, if you're curious].

My own toast to a beautiful and loving couple who did indeed keep it simple and keep it real.

a little overview of the Chapel design here:

Cambridge Maternity Portrait .:. Cambridge Commons

Even though it was winter when I photographed this Cambridge maternity portrait, it was so warm that we planned to shoot outside.  I met with the expectant couple at noon at the Cambridge Common, where they got engaged and then we ended up, where else but   the Cambridge Common pub! Have you noticed how my portrait sessions seem to migrate towards bars?  There was also a cute playground in the park that provided an aspirational setting for the impending parents. All good settings for a location maternity shoot!
And pretty much the perfect red dress for winter, for showing off the changing figure and for being an all around classic.

A black and white silhouette peek from this shoot was put up in January here.

2013 and still loving the silhouettes!
One of my favorites from a foggy maternity session this past weekend.  We ended by warming up at  (where else?!) Cambridge Common, where I got this great image of the couple sharing a beer and club soda.  An amazing couple who wanted to commemorate an end of one chapter and the beginning of the next.

more to come!

Cambridge Engagement Portraits .:. Harvard Square love story

These sweethearts just had their wedding on Saturday. With my epic delay in blog postings, I am just now getting to their Cambridge engagement portraits.
This was a beautiful morning in Harvard Square. We had to reschedule a few times because of the epic heat waves that hit the city earlier in the summer.  J. chose such a gorgeous color for her dress. I left them feeling as bubbly and happy and lovely as they were.  And that's a nice feeling.

Upstairs on the Square Wedding Photography

Potentially categorizing me as a maniac, sometimes I push through two weddings in a 24 hour time period. Not usually, but sometimes I am compelled to do so because lovebirds are charming. As these ladies are. Can I take a moment and say how much I love a day wedding? The excitement of waking up in the early morning to get married.  Oh, and that lovely minx Day Light, of course? And how much I love when clients pick and choose which wedding traditions they are honoring and which ones they will pass over to make the day a true reflection of them? We'll here it is.  A day wedding luncheon in Harvard Square. A friend officiating. String quartet playing The Cure. Cake and dessert bar. An afternoon thunderstorm passes through and it barely registers.  Blisswork.
