I’m Allana! A Boston photographer, I capture honest and beautiful moments that tell the story of your wedding day.  As a wedding photographer, I make beautiful images that celebrate love and make sure you are present with each other, your family, and friends on your wedding day. With a background in fine art, and training in medium and large format film, I see the world in shape and value and tone, looking at light as it moves across planes.  I'm good at making people feel comfortable - which makes for honest and beautiful images.

Our live/work studio is located in the historic artist district of Fort Point in Boston.  An inquisitive dreamer and tenacious creative, I taught art in public schools and in museums like ISGM, SDMA, MCASD. MoPA and ICA Boston before launching Ars Magna.  An artist from the start, I love working with clients to celebrate the love in their lives.

See some of my favorites images from recent New England weddings

From the intimate City Hall ceremonies in the city to barns and bonfires in the mountains to sun sets over the ocean romance  - I adore photographing them all. I work with all my clients to create images that tell their love story through their wedding photography.   I approach each wedding with clear eyes and a full heart, documenting the real moments of the day - from the small intimacies to the big emotions.  An artist from the start, heart, I see the world through shapes, textures, and most importantly, light. Want a wedding album full of emotion and hugs and dancing and your favorite people?  Of course you do!

See the love in these Boston engagement location portraits

Fun.  Easy. Portraits of what you look like as you are in your everyday life, rather than your wedding clothes. I want you to authentically be your lovebird selves.  Specific location have special meaning and I make sure the place is part of that story.  I accept the challenge to make beautiful pictures anywhere.

Pairing clients’ own words with their portraits adds an emotional component to the visual story I am creating with my clients.  This personal dimension requires trust.  This is for the brave.  But isn’t also marriage itself?  When we marry, we enter into something that requires vulnerability and courage.

Provincetown Wedding | The Red Inn

Readers, you may have seen these lovebirds Jamaica Plain engagement portraits here, taking in a final day of foliage last fall.  And now here they are tying that proverbial knot at the Red Inn.  It was a gorgeous, if windy, day in Provincetown.  The vows and most of the partying took place under the tented deck overlooking the water. This was just the kind of delightful early June wedding that made me want to make a list.
things I love about my clients:

  • when they smile all day long
  • when they are expressing unselfconscious joy
  • when they are prone to break out into amazing dance moves at any moment
  • when they buy me new kicks!

T and her sister both work for fabled sneaker companies in Massachusetts.  So the entire wedding party, and the vendors, all rocked new converse.  That is my kind of pumped up kicks.
